Professional services firm STV has officially moved its flagship New York City office from 225 Park Avenue South to the Empire State Building at 350 Fifth Avenue.

Amtrak achieves emergency management accreditation. Also, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) this summer is beginning a $230 million renovation of Five Points Station; and the City of Peoria, Ill., advances the Peoria-Chicago passenger rail corridor project.

Railhead Lands CTA Video Contract

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has awarded Railhead Corp. a contract to design and install a complete Video Recording System for the agency’s Bombardier Transportation-built 5000 Series and Morrison–Knudsen-built 3200 Series rapid transit cars.

It was 1976, a year when there was a resurgence of leisure train travel with the start of Amtrak, when Class I railroads in the Northeast joined to form Conrail, and railroads across the nation debuted patriotic livery paint schemes in honor of America’s bicentennial. And in Minot, N.Dak., a young Dale Dannewitz started his railroading career that would span nearly a half century.
