RSI President Patty Long will discuss “Supplier Opportunities for Growth in Freight and Passenger Rail” at Railway Age’s 2024 virtual Rail Insights conference, June 20.

Long and Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono will address how suppliers can influence growth, from which they can clearly benefit. “For freight railroads, it involves helping the railroads with a customer-centric approach, use of technology to improve service, and a legislative agenda that incentives investment and growth,” notes Long.

The RSI recently adopted a renewed focus on passenger rail. Long will touch upon RSI’s history of RSI with passenger issues. “There are many opportunities and challenges for suppliers, and as such there is a need for supplier representation in this space,” she says. “RSI is the right place for this to happen.”

Long often speaks about collaboration as it relates to growth. “In the rail industry, there are associations for Class I operators, short lines, and several different associations for rail suppliers,” Long notes. “These groups should work more closely together, as the industry need a unified supplier agenda on Capitol Hill.”
