Transit Briefs: NYMTA, Tri-Rail, RTD

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) selects an HDR-led team to provide program management to its Station Capital Program. Also, final federal approval could bring Tri-Rail to downtown Miami in December; and the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) installs new light rail seat covers.

Scott Drainville has transitioned from interim to permanent CEO of Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART), which runs the TECO Line Streetcar in Tampa, Fla. Also, Sean Flaherty is the new Transportation Sustainability and Resiliency Director at HDR, a design firm specializing in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services; and David Cochrane will now lead high-speed rail projects at engineering, environment and professional services consultancy WSP.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) appoints a General Counsel and a Director for the Office of Research and Engineering. Also, there is a new Director, Government Affairs at the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Northeastern Illinois; leader for HDR’s Transportation Economics and Statistics Services practice; and Litigation Section Partner at global law firm Holland & Knight.

HDR Fronts FrontRunner Double-Tracking

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has selected a team led by HDR and including WSP USA to provide program management services for its $966.2 million FrontRunner Strategic Double Track Project, which will add at least nine new segments of double track along the 82-mile, 16-station Ogden-Provo regional/commuter rail system and update signaling systems.
