NJT Executive Director Weinstein resigns

James Weinstein, executive director of New Jersey Transit, the nation’s third-largest public transportation agency, announced Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, that he has resigned effective March 2. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who appointed Weinstein in 2010, said Weinstein will be replaced by Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim, currently executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Amtrak adds its services to Super Bowl plans

Amtrak has announced it will utilize New Jersey Transit’s Secaucus Junction Station, located on its Northeast Corridor, to help deliver customers to and from Super Bowl XLVIII, being held at MetLife Stadium in nearly East Rutherford, N.J., Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

NJT completes mobile ticketing rollout

New Jersey Transit has completed systemwide rollout of its mobile rail ticketing, MyTix, expanded it to the Northeast Corridor and Atlantic City Rail Line. MyTix enables customers to purchase and display rail one-way tickets, weekly passes, and monthly passes for travel to and from all 165 NJT rail stations using their smartphones.

NJT offers SUPER PASS for Super Bowl XLVIII

New Jersey Transit on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, launched “a commemorative, unlimited ride SUPER PASS that will speed travel for customers utilizing the agency’s transit system throughout Super Bowl Week.”
